Project description
Entanglement lies at the very heart of quantum theory, both as one of the fundamental features that distinguish it from classical reality and as a crucial resource for quantum technologies. Remarkably, it has been discovered that entanglement in paradigmatic many-body quantum systems can present geometric properties. The main objective of this highly interdisciplinary project is to deepen our understanding of these emergent entanglement-geometric structures by using the tools of network geometry, a field of complex network theory that has identified hyperbolic geometry underlying complex systems as disparate as the human brain and the Internet. This approach has the potential to produce intuitive network models characterising complex entanglement structures, to provide new tools for theories that consider gravity as an emergent quantum phenomenon, and to design new efficient techniques exploiting quantum advantage for simulations on near-term quantum computers.
