Project description
The actinide elements offer abundant opportunities for multidisciplinary science, ranging from nuclear structure physics and atomic physics, to the search for physics beyond the Standard Model. This consortium research project aims to investigate ground state properties of actinide nuclei by utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, both experimentally and theoretically. Experimentally, the elements produced at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä are investigated with resonance ionization spectroscopy. This information is then used to test existing theoretical nuclear structure models and to construct a better nuclear structure model with an improved predictive power.
