Project description
Measuring the temperature in submicrometer spatial range in the nanoscale electronic devices is impossible with a conventional contact thermometer due their small size. However, understanding the heat distribution in these devices is as important as the development of their proper building blocks because the heat distribution may negatively influence the performance of devices or even lead to their catastrophic failure. This research project focuses on the development and investigation of fundamental physical and chemical properties of molecular nanomagnets with thermal sensing properties using experimental and computational chemistry research methods. The results obtained in the project can be utilized to develop the next generation multifunctional molecular materials that do not only function as molecular nanomagnets but also as optical molecular thermometers.
