URKO (Uralilainen kolmio, Uralic triangulation in Finnish) is a consortium by UTU to build a platform for integrative studies of the human past. URKO’s focus is on cultural and genetic development of the Uralic speaker area in North-Western Eurasia. URKO takes advantage of the increasing availability of rich datas from linguistics, archaeology, genetics and environmental sciences. We will build user interfaces for: 1) a new data of Uralic grammatical traits, 2) digitized data of typological
descriptions of archeological findings of Finland and 3) maps service of the Uralic speaker areas with references to archeology, genetics and environmental characteristics of the area. URKO will also develop analytic, computational methods to combine spatial and chronological events in the Uralic speaker area. The project is based on earlier collaboration of the applicants, and to interdisciplinary SUGRIGE, BEDLAN and KiKi projects (https://blogs.helsinki.fi/paleogenetics/; www.bedlan.net). |
