Beskrivning av projektet
PEICAS is an interdisciplinary research project that examines interactions between children with autism and their peers in inclusive classrooms. While previous research has focused on interactional challenges in autism, PEICAS focuses on children’s ‘moments of success’ in interaction. The project utilizes an innovative multimethod and participatory approach that combines mobile eye tracking with wide-angle video recordings, and examines these using distributional analyses, multimodal interaction analysis, and video-stimulated account (VSA). With VSA it will be possible to grasp children’s accounts to gain ‘insider information’ on how children with and without autism view successful classroom interaction. The findings of the project will provide novel knowledge on interactional strengths of children with autism. This knowledge will be used to develop guidelines for pedagogical methods to support the social participation of children with autism in inclusive settings and beyond.
