Beskrivning av projektet
This multidisciplinary research project combining innovative scientific research, artistic work and traditional Sámi handicraft, duodji, introduces a new approach to questions of cultural heritage and indigeneity. We are interested in this project how the Sámi cultural heritage exists and manifests in society. We will analyze the enactment and embodiment of cultural heritage in connection to the processes of indigenization in three key area of constructing Sámi society: the Sámi museum, new Sámi political activism, particularly duodjivism, and contemporary Sámi art. The starting point of the project is the idea that different practices enact cultural heritage - and indigeneity - in multiple ways. The aim of the project is also to create and develop new Sámi ways of defining, interpreting, creating and performing cultural heritage and its multiplicity.
