Beskrivning av projektet
The MEG project studies Muslim communities, their integration in civil society and their interaction with the state in Ghana. The main objective of the MEG project is, first, to analyze the Muslim discourse on marginalization and empowerment, and second, to analyze the agendas and actions of Muslim community leaders and activists to promote the inclusion of the Muslims in Ghanaian civil society and the modern secular state. The MEG project applies a holistic and participatory research approach and focuses on three interlinked research themes: Empowerment through poverty alleviation, Empowerment and political discourse, and Empowerment and inter-faith dialogue. The MEG project aims to provide a deeper understanding of a Muslim minority in a Christian-dominated civil society and the potentials of a working relationship between the Muslim leadership and the secular state.
