Beskrivning av projektet
The Moralities of Intelligent Machines (MOIM) research project was established before the 2015 Helsinki Challenge competition. To our knowledge it is the only participating project in the competition still making a visible impact on Finnish society. MOIM aims to do fundamental or basic research on human moral cognition; particularly, MOIM studies how people judge decisions made artificial intelligences (AIs) across various situations, when these decisions affect human wellbeing. To date we have studied mind upload technology, brain implants, nursing robots deciding on forced medication, rescue robots making triage decisions in life-threatening situations, and robot prostitution. We are also developing a psychometric instrument to study human attitudes towards AIs and robots. In addition, we are planning on studying people’s reactions to AIs making passive euthanasia decisions, profiling algorithms used by law enforcement, and other nuanced situations.
