Project description |
Methods for monitoring water and the amount of free oxygen radicals during brain tumor radiotherapy are lacking. The monitoring could ensure the effectiveness of the radiation therapy when the concentration of oxygen radicals correlates with the power of radiotherapy. In addition, there is a close relationship between brain water, glymphatic system and several brain diseases including brain disorders caused by brain tumor radiotherapy. These require new brain imaging techniques to be developed.
Our goal is to accomplish a novel brain sensing system capable of measuring more comprehensively different characteristics in the human brain, particularly free water radicals, oxygen radicals and glymphatic water flow in brain tissue. This will be achieved by effectively combining the assets of the preferred sensing methods, while knowing that they are safe and not affected by each other. By this project, we aim at providing technology and a novel tool for improving brain tumor radiotherapy. |
