Project description
Atmospheric icing is a global phenomenon impacting on industries and societies causing problems in safety, efficiency of operations and durability of structures. Current anti- and de-icing solutions cannot offer sustainable, reliable and functional alternatives, which would prevent ice accretion and thus, energy losses and substantial economic costs. The novel approach on icing problems is to develop, design and manufacture durable anti-icing thermally sprayed slippery coatings. In addition, understanding about the icing phenomenon and affecting surface factors will be achieved. This project is answering worldwide recognized icing problems with an advanced surface engineering approach.
