In this project we model the mechanisms by which two missense mutations in KCNQ1, a gene previously implicated in cardiac arrhythmia syndromes, cause pituitary hormone deficiency in humans. We will model the ontogeny and function of the essential cell types implicated in central regulation of somatic growth. The results of this translational research project are expected to gain wide international significance and visibility, and the national and international networking possibilities offer exceptional possibilities for research exchange and mobility.
