A new individual is formed during embryonic development and is one of the most challenging processes in nature. All living organisms form via a gradual developmental process. This process is known to depend on cell-cell and tissue interactions known as the embryonic induction (EI). The EI is a universal mechanism in nature. Here the cells exchange inductive signals. These signals commit the fate of a given cell by forming so called morphogen gradients. Such gradients define also different cell fates based on their specific amounts in a given cells in relation to the source of such inducing cells or tissues. It is typical that the EI provides specific patterning for the organs and also certain morphological structures such as is seen in the mammalian kidney. We showed earlier that the Wnt signals in the kidney EI but it remains unknown how they regulate EI. In the project, we focus to test if cell secreted extracellular vesicles serves the morphogens that remain still unknown.
