The project aims to develop an autonomous characterization method and system for studying the toxicity of microparticles to lung cells. The project has successfully developed a robotic electromagnetic needle-based manipulation system that can autonomously deliver individual microparticles to lung cells in the test setup. Different microparticles and nanoparticles in different cell-lines have been fabricated and tested. The developed methods allow selective extraction and delivery of individual particles
to single cells, which opens many potential applications in biomedical research. However, further experiments are needed to validate the methods. Additionally, the research project leads to new methods for characterization of artificial spider protein and new discovery of motion of particles on air-magnetic liquid interface. |
