Project description |
Prevention of dementia and Alzheimer disease (AD) is a global priority. Pioneer trials showed that improvement of vascular and lifestyle-based risk factors can benefit cognition in older adults, but highlighted also the need for better targeted interventions. EURO-FINGERS aims to develop a precision prevention toolbox needed for personalized AD prevention. Specific aims are: 1) Developing tools for estimating risk and prevention potential; 2) Assessing the response to preventive interventions and
cost-benefit aspects; 3) Designing the first multimodal prevention trial combining lifestyle intervention with disease-modifying drugs; 4) Assessing patient-perspectives on early AD detection and prevention; and 5) Setting up the EURO-FINGERS online registry for dementia prevention research. The project will combine comprehensive data from observational studies and prevention trials. The EURO-FINGERS Toolbox will provide tools for the next generation of AD precision prevention trials. |
