Project description
This project aims to extend our preclinical research done at FIMM into translational directions. Tumours are complex biological systems in which gene-environment interactions evolve over time, leading to heterogeneity in cellular phenotypes. Studying gene-phenotype relationships across the histopathological diversity of lung cancer, we discovered that phenotypic diversity arises in tumours driven by the same genotype. This means that tumour progression constitutes diverse biological mechanisms, and that the drug vulnerability of each individual tumour requires assessment in functional assays. In this project, we will investigate clinical lung cancers to identify single or combinatorial drug regimens for individual patient tumours. The implementation of these diagnostic studies in our lab connected to a clinical unit can help us understand whether, and how, we can better patients with lung cancer.
