Project description
The objective of this project is to develop and realize a programmable digital sensory reality world that enables creation of genuine olfactory experiences in VR. The multidisciplinary nature of the project demands to apply and integrate research methods from several disciplines of science including human-computer interaction, psychology, microfluidics, electronic nose technology, machine learning, and medicine. The project will have significant impacts on various fields of science. We aim to extend the multimodal interaction in VR by olfactory information, introduce new visionary technology for olfactory research and testing and show, for the first time, how odors in real life spaces can be captured by an array of eNoses, classified by machine learning methods, and reproduced in VR modelling the real life spaces.
