Project description
Digital signal processing is ubiquitous in today's world. It is applied to everything from capturing or amplifying acoustic instruments to the radically unheard soundscapes of contemporary art and popular music. The craft of building musical signal processors is highly cross-disciplinary, requiring skills like advanced mathematics and engineering as well as musical aesthetics. Signal processing is luthiery for the digital age. Sprezzatura examines the modes of human-computer interaction in musical programming. Programming could be conceived as a visual, aural or even kinetic task, further converging the worlds of musical instruments and computers, renewing our thinking on computer programming, innovation and creativity.
