Project description
The aim of the project was to study electrochemistry starting from the first princples. The idea was to understand more fundamentally the theoretical basis of many electrochemical techniques used in sensors, energy applications etc. During the project we have established (i) a new methodology to computationally study nanomaterial surfaces, (ii) to include surface charge into these simulations and (iii) realized an extensive data base of experimental results from electrochemistry of carbonaceous nanomaterials. We have also integrated machine learning methods to be used to augment both computational and experimental studies. These results will enable the design and realization of aoolication specific carbon based nanomaterials that will provide breakthroughs in many technological and scientific fields related to biosensing, catalysis and energy applications. Results from this project are utilized in several other fundamental and more applied research projects that are ongiong.
