Project description
Many-body localized states are interesting highly-excited eigenstates of disordered and interacting quantum systems. Despite of their high energy density, their features are more similar to those of generic quantum ground states, which make them as prospective novel bases for long-lived quantum memories. The excellent experimental controllability and flexibility of transmons have proven them remarkably good for studies of many-body physics and quantum information. The goal of this project is to show compelling many-sided theoretical evidence that an array of superconducting transmon devices constitute a versatile experimental platform for many-body localization phases. Project develops novel numerical methods for studying dissipation and decoherence in many-body localization and explores feasibility of quantum memory applications. The main research methods are based on modern tensor network and renormalization group approaches, which have applications also in big data problems.
