Project description
In the context of digital transformation, the mining industry is facing significant changes. The pace of technological advancement is fast in all megatrends, which does not center, however,on technology only, but rather on capturing value through improved productivity.Over the years, process industries have made much progress in real time control and optimization.Close to 10 000 MPCs have been implemented, mainly in oil refining, and the estimated benefits delivered is 10 billion $. However, only a few MPCs have been reported in mining industry. The connection between mineralogy and metallurgical performance in a mine plays a key role for economic processing of the ore body. An exciting research task has been to develop the methodology which provides an integrated approach for linking information between the unit processes, mineralogical composition, and to combine this “big mine data” via cloud computing to the plant real-time optimization. Finnaly, the concept has been successfully tested.
