Project description
The aim of this research visit project was to contribute into the development of a patient-friendly diagnostic tool for visualisation of the human skin properties, skin blood content as well as its oxygen level. In the project we’ve developed an original hyperspectral imaging system composed of the imaging sensor (Senop Oy, Oulu), custom designed illuminator and processing software. To solve highly complex task of the reconstruction of skin physiological properties we’ve developed an original approach for the data processing based on the neural networks trained by the results of Monte-Carlo modelling. A tool combining speed of neural network and the accuracy and flexibility of Monte-Carlo modelling has been developed. The developed technique has potential applications in monitoring and diagnostics of diabetic ulcer formation and other relevant skin diseases along with cosmetological defects.
