Project description
The research programme will develop remote and fast quantitative characterization methods for 3d-modelling of rock surface topography and mineralogy, which would be a valuable 3d-modelling and geometallurgical tools for the mining industry. An integration of the spectral information and 3D measurements would contribute significantly to the models created by mining and surveyingengineers and geologists. The research will bring together the knowledge and experiences accumulated in Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Laser Scanning on hyperspectral laser scanners (FGI and Aalto RYMMI) and GMOS SPAD techniques (Academy Professor Juha Kostamovaara, University of Oulu); the experiences of the Tekes financed Ladimo-project (Aalto Geoengineering) and the ongoing LaseREE-project on laser analysis of ores (JYU). International co-operationwill be carried out with the EIT KIC on Raw Materials and the State Key lab of “Mine Hazardous Causes and Prevention and Control” of SDUST, China.
