Project description
To assess the size and contents of economically interesting mineral deposits, geologists use not only drill hole data and field measurements but also geochemistry and structural properties to create a model for the ore. In this project we speed up this modelling process by implementing a high performance computer program Geccogram to enable the geologist to interactively change the location and rotational position of the subsurface features in their model and see the effect on the measured values. The models may include two separate length scales, a larger scale background and a smaller scale mineral deposit, which both can be translated, rotated and scaled independently. Also, scripts were developed in order to use and analyze geoscientific data in modelling, and machine learning methods were applied to geochemical data to find potential ore-related geochemical signatures. In addition, seismic and electromagnetic responses of orebodies were analyzed by forward modelling.
