Project description
Arctic Absorbing Aerosols and Albedo of Snow The main objective of the project is to quantify the interaction of Arctic snow albedo and absorbing aerosols (Black Carbon, BC), and to gain more in-depth understanding of the globally important aspects of BC and albedo feedback, as well as BC and snow melt in the Arctic. The scientific relevance of the proposed work is at a high level as the knowledge on BC and albedo is an internationally hot and central research topic, and crucial to the Arctic and climate change research in Finland. The societal relevance of the topic comes via the fact that Arctic research belongs to our national research focus areas, and climate change is an international grand challenge.
