Project description
In the project, nuclear magnetic spectroscopy (NMR) parameters and nuclear spin relaxation were modelled in realistic experimental conditions taking into account the effects of thermal motion, phase, and environment. This was combined with modelling of significant relativistic effects in heavy element containing molecular materials. All these phenomena were included in the pioneering theory development and practical modelling of the first observed parameter of the novel nuclear magneto-optic spectroscopies (NMOS), so-called nuclear spin induced optical rotation (NSOR) effect. A quantitative agreement with experimental data was achieved in most of the studies enabling microscopic explanation of the observations as well as the role of different interactions. The project illustrates that modelling is often a necessity in the analysis of the complicated and versatile experimental data and it also increases the information content of the research.
